The Letters

In 1932, Albert Einstein wrote to Sigmund Freud with a single question: Is there any way of delivering mankind from the menace of war? Freud answered him at length. Their exchange — written on the eve of catastrophe, and largely forgotten since — is the document this book is wrapped around. The question they asked is one we have still not answered.
